Robert Hammondabout this book: THE LIGHT is an inspirational drama and spiritual journey based on a true story about ABEL ADAMS, a brilliant, but troubled young misfit seeking enlightenment while battling drug addiction. Reminiscent of such stories as Permanent Midnight, Requiem for a Dream and The Basketball Diaries but with an uplifting twist along the lines of The Shack or a modern Siddhartha.
The story follows young heroin addict, Abel Adams, through a variety of strange relationships, crimes, and religious experiences where he is ultimately sentenced to prison for theft and drug possession. While in prison he has a mental breakdown and near-death experience resulting in a spiritual awakening. Upon his release, he discovers that most of his old drug companions are dead, but a few have survived and some are totally changed. Some want to lure him back to the old life. Others want him dead. Abel embarks on a journey to make amends to the people he harmed, including the judge whose daughter he corrupted and whose house he robbed during Christmas.
The Light is a mystical odyssey that blends fantasy and true crime with visionary fiction, offering a ray of hope, inspiration, and recovery from addiction. Have you seen the Light?
