Opera Review: Puccini - Turandot at the Forbidden City of Beijing / Mehta, Casolla, Larin, Frittoli, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Giovanna Casolla, Sergej Larincategories: Music, Classical, Opera, Giacomo Puccini, Turandot, Italian, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Poetic Majesty, Puccini
Artist: Zubin Mehta
Studio: Sony Classical
A Real Turn OnThis production put me over the edge of my seat, more than once. Casolla made an enraged feel to add some credit to the difficult part of Turandot. The Nessun Dorma wasn't the best ever, but the background made up for that plenty. And Frittoli has overdone herself, at the end of her aria she filled me with horror and the strong repentant chores made me cry as the emotions are flowing. Well done.
