Tim Johnson

Author Tim Johnsonabout this book: This is a compilation of traditional zen stories with illustrations. They have been adapted for children and teach morals of self-confidence, abundance, acceptance and more.

The "very delicious strawberry" symbolizes the present moment, contentment and ultimately enlightenment. By focusing on the present moment, the man is able to forget all of his turmoils and enjoy life one instant at a time.

Adapted from Zen Buddhist writings dating back as far as the twelfth century, these stories have been simplified to be enjoyed by young children while wholly embodying the traditional concepts. Beautiful hand-drawn illustrations engage the imaginations of children and allow them to better visualize the stories and apply the concepts to their life.

I was inspired as a child by many of the stories in this book and my intention is to make them more approachable to young children and help them understand deeper philosophical concepts at a young age.

I have studied martial arts since childhood and the amount of philosophical concepts that can be applied to developing minds is incredible.
