Caroline Gayle Ashingtonabout this book: My book is as unique as the island of Zanzibar. Most people who visit Zanzibar got there on holiday and stay in a hotel or some form of formal accomodation. I had the wonderful privelledge of getting to live there as a local for four months. It was an incredible oppertunity that allowed me to see life as it is for the ordinary people of this amazing island. I also got to explore at my leisure without the rush of a tour guide and really was allowed to get a true sense of a lot of the places I visited. my book is also filled with day to day struggles that come from living in a developing country as well as the funny things that happen when cultures collide.
Zanzibar is full of stories, myths and legends. My story was just one of the many that are now part of its history and magic. I have left Zanzibar a changed person, I am more full of life and adventure than I was a year ago. I have truly found myself. Take a chance and experience the magic for yourself and someday you might find yourself writing your won Zanzibar Tale.
