Ryan Ramoutarabout this book: "Breakable Moments" is a blood stained, gunpowder smelling romance.
A young paramilitary adolescent is searching for true love. Following his inquiry, he is caught in a deadly game in which he sacrifice almost everything: his freedom, his friends and his integrity.
The novelette's background is set in Trinidad, where the border between civilized world and the ghetto is a thin, invisible lane and where the paths for personal accomplishment are paved with cocaine.
The aspiring young is caught between the rancorous mafia and the justice. For his good intentions, he needs to use the gun and the hunting knife. From the marijuana smelling ghetto to the bridge of a luxury yacht is just a small step. A step which detonates ammunition and draws blood. If he takes the step, probably will die. If he doesn't, he'll also die, grabbing with him the ones he love. The choice is not easy. The story finishes with unexpected happy end.
The novelette was awarded with the prize for novel by Trinidadian National Library and Ryan Ramoutar is a promising young author: he has under editorial work a second novelette, "The Kiss of a Killer," scheduled for publishing by Blacklight Publishers on November 15, 2012.
