B.L. Wilsonabout this book: In 'Belly Fires, even death can't kill the flames of passion,' Lieutenant Governor Charlene Ford, the first gay lieutenant governor of the big state of NY is at the top of her game. She has everything she wants. She has an exciting career she loves. She's in a loving marriage with a wife she loves. She has a pre-teen son she's spoiled and for whom she would do anything. She has a loyal dog she loves.
Then in one fatal swoop, an exhausted bus driver steals everything from her. Her family…her son and wife are dead. After she buries them all she has left is a career she's beginning to hate and a dog that misses the family he's grown to love. Where does she go from here? What are her next moves? She always knew where she was going until now. Can she rebuild her life alone? Will she stay in politics?
I wanted to write the story of a strong woman who loses everything in a public arena and now must decide, while still under a spotlight where to go and what to do next. Will she fall apart, or discover her true strength and maybe love as well? I believe I explored those possibilities quite well in 'Belly Fires.'
