Book: Unwanted Reputation by Les Williamscategories: Book, Fiction, Lawman, Short Story, Western
Les Williamsabout this book: Unwanted Reputation is my favorite of the three short westerns that have been published by Western Trail Blazer. Having said that, I was surprised at how well this story was accepted and the resulting sales. Both my publisher Rebecca J Vickery and I were pleased with the sales, however, we did not know why this was until someone told her the main Character, Lance Kelly, reminded them of Matt Dillion. I admit that was not my intention when I created Lance Kelly but I can see why the comparison was made. Lance Kelly is a fair man. He will not use his gun unless there is no other way out of a situation. He treats everyone he meets with fairness, unless they give him a reason to do otherwise. With the encouragement of Rebecca, I have since written two more stories featuring Marshal Lance Kelly of Freeman Nebraska. Look for the next one in 2013.
"The day started with a kid trying to build a reputation as a gunman at my expense. Something I was not in favor of. The kid had a reputation of his own of being rowdy. I didn't want to face him but he left me with no choice. Later in the day things didn't get any better when the kids pa rode into town. It was days like this when I would have given anything for not having an unwanted reputation." - Lance Kelly
I hope you enjoy this story about Lance Kelly.
