Stan Lynde about this book: The Merlin Fanshaw Western series is set in Territorial Montana during the 1880s, each novel advancing one year and the books' protagonist, Merlin Fanshaw, one year older with each novel. Summer Snow is set in 1886, as U.S. Deputy Marshal Merlin Fanshaw is sent on an undercover mission to infiltrate an outlaw gang led by his old nemesis, Original George Starkweather. The title Summer Snow comes from the resemblance of the seed-bearing "cotton" fluff that falls from cottonwood trees in the fall to winter's snows. The cover art, which was painted by my son Taylor, shows a scene from the book as Merlin walks with his lady friend Pandora. The book also explores the attractive temptations evil offers, and how we may resist and overcome them. I would like to tell my readers that my books are well-researched, drawn from my own life experience and research, and that they are inhabited by characters they will identify with and care deeply about.
