Margaret Tannerabout this book: My friend Susan Horsnell, is a prolific writer of Western Romance, and she encouraged me to try my hand at it. I normally write stories set in Frontier Australia, which has many similarities to the American frontier - Wild untamed countryside, a harsh, unforgiving environment and weather, isolated communities, a large single male population, and a lack of eligible women. The most difficult part of writing a Western for me is the difference in the terminology between Australia and the US.
Because I have always loved watching Westerns on TV and at the movies, it didn't take much persuasion for me to decide that I would give it a go, and try my hand at writing Western Romance.
I have had a short story published in the Western Romance Anthology, Rawhide 'N Roses which was a 2015 Rone Finalist.
This particular novella, Christmas Cowboy, is published in the Silver Belles and Stetsons Christmas Anthology (10 novellas from 10 different authors). Christmas Cowboy is also now available as a single title.
Briefly, the storyline is based around the deeds of a good Samaritan, who steps in to help a stranger in distress. Reluctant hero, Zac Goodman, is a gunslinger. The woman he rescues, Holly O'Leary, is heavily pregnant. She is stranded in the middle of nowhere in a damaged wagon, with her cheating husband lying dead a few feet away from her.
