Ken Colemanabout this book: This a story about a 14 year old boy who, after seeing his parents murdered by a gang of gunmen, is befriended by a young woman who takes him on a journey fraught with danger and bloodshed as they relentlessly pursue the killers over hundreds of miles of territory and through some of the wildest and lawless towns in the west.
There is little doubt in the boy's mind that the woman is insane and a cold blooded murderess. But he becomes so besotted by her beauty and charisma, not to mention her bewitching eyes that he becomes totally enchanted by her, so much so, that he would be willing to follow her into hell if she asked him to. Unfortunately, a version of hell is where they end up when their journey comes to an unexpected and tragic end.
This a sequel to the books featuring Ruth, ("Cheyenne Dawn" and "Archisha.") But I decided this time to feature her as seen through the eyes of a 14 year old boy and in the first person singular.
It is essentially, a western adventure and is set in the year 1885 with all the authenticity of that period.
The title of the book speaks for itself in that the heroine or perhaps she should be called an anti-heroine, is called Ruth and she is incredibly ruthless in her intent to kill without compromise, anybody who stands in her way.
The book is aimed at western readers of both genders in that despite much violence and bloodshed, it has a definite romantic feel and covers a boy's unrequited love for an older and far worldlier woman.
