Book: Maddie and the Norseman by Tricia McGill

Tricia McGillabout this book: I have a fascination for Vikings. I have no idea where this came from, but it likely has something to do with my love of Time-Travels. I've read books in this genre for as long as I have been reading. This would be my first attempt at writing about the Norsemen and their fantastic seamanship. I write romance, so therefore the sordid side of Viking life i.e. their brutality and talent for invading and ransacking, are parts I tend to gloss over. I've been writing romance in a few sub-genres throughout my career and have published contemporaries, historicals, mainstream as well as time-travels. Maddie and The Norseman was easy to write and took me around 6 months from draft to edits. I differ from some writers and actually enjoy the editing stage of a book. I am also a glutton for research and this part of the process is one I enjoy immensely (another reason I love writing historical romance). Maddie and The Norseman entailed a very detailed amount of research, as apart from what I gleaned from TV and movies, my knowledge of the Vikings was sparse. It was their seamanship that fascinated me the most, so it seemed logical that my heroine shared this fascination and admired the Viking skills at building their longships and sailing unknown waters to find new territories to invade, then inhabit.
