Rebecca Stroudabout this book: Do Unto Others is about animal abuse & vigilante justice. As an avid animal lover, I get very angry at how the legal system does little to those who commit heinous acts of cruelty. So, one day - after reading about yet another such case - I sat down and started to write.
Because I was pumped with emotion, the book took a mere month from start to finish. The title should be self-explanatory, considering the story line.
The most difficult part of writing Do Unto Others was putting the few instances of animal abuse into 'words' (it is quite graphic)...but I had no problem with what happened to the abusers (also graphic). As a former SPCA employee and wildlife sanctuary volunteer, I've seen enough to last a lifetime. Ergo, now I write.
What I learned from writing this novella is that many readers feel exactly the same as I do. Animal abuse should not be at the bottom of the legal totem pole; instead, penalties should equate those the so-called justice system metes out to child molesters, elder abusers...to all the cowards who perpetrate crimes against the defenseless.
In closing, although I am now a full-time author (six books on Amazon), I have over three decades of 'animal experience' in addition to many years as a newspaper reporter and anchored columnist.
