Kya Alianaabout this book: This is a horror/suspence/thriller/young adult/real vampire novel. The majority of the book takes place at a highly curiosity-built dinner party hosted by the new family in town. Ivan suspects danger at the dinner party, but no one believes him. When he befriends and falls in love with Latianna, the daughter of the new family living in the old mansion atop the mountain, he has no idea that dangers and baggage she comes with. Can he help her move on with her life, freeing her from her abusive father? Will he be able to save the town from the terrible fate they never saw coming? He's barely eighteen and the pressure is overwhelming!
I wrote this book in a month for the NaNoWriMo (National-Novel-Writing-Month) when I was fifteen years old. I then revised it and now I am seventeen and it has recently been published. (March 1st 2012) I am inspired by many things, many works of great fiction and writing. When I was thirteen years old I started my first novel because I was frustrated with not being able to find something good to read that night. That's when I discovered my passion for writing. Since then, I haven't been able to stop. I love writing more than I love anything. I intend to pursue my writing career in every aspect of my life. Writing novels is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Most of my readers are in their late teens through late twenties, though people of all ages have enjoyed this book. It contains a bit of mature content, though nothing too graphic. I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone under the age of 16. But, I am in no way supportive of keeping books from anyone who wants to read them.
I came up with the title when I was brainstorming with my sister. The original title was: The Dinner Party.... it, obviously, didn't have the draw I was looking for. So then, I came up with: What Could Possibly Be So Dangerous About a Dinner Party? .... it still wasn't quite what I was looking for. So one night, it came to me. The perfect title: Impending Doom. After all, it is meant to be a very suspenseful book that builds up to an explosive climax. It was perfect.
The hardest part of writing this book was by far trying to avoid cliches. Vampires are a very hot topic as of now... really they have been since the '80s. Vampires are a topic that I have rather enjoyed reading about, but find they get old after a while. And now, with all the hype about vampires not being that bad, I had to find a creative and realistic way of making the ones in my book evil... asides from killing people and drinking blood, the cliches. I try as much as I can to break cliches in my book, even if they first start out like cliches. I love to include twists and turns of all extremities in my writing!
what to read next: if you read and liked this book...
