Zangba Thomsonabout this book: "Three Black Boys: Tomorrow After Supper" is a grim novel that captures the hardscrabble life of three inner-city teenagers—who put their lives on the line to rescue a victim plagued with the deadly black fever disease.
But Barnes, one of the teens, is the one who must return home to face a mother (Babita Harris) who has "unknowingly" been suffering from black-fever disease, an illness she contracted in India, while visiting her parents—a month prior to being bedridden in America.
The plot thickens when Doctor Salome McBryant tells Babita that her liver is damaged and scarred beyond repair, not even dialysis can help; and she only has a month to live, unless she undergoes a costly liver transplant. But the problem is—Babita is uninsured, no health insurance. So the chance of a surgery is slim—what she really needs is luck, and a quarter of a million dollars in cash.
So, Barnes, along with his friends, Demus and Baker, spring into dangerous action to get the money, and they end up robbing Viktor Yushchenko, a Ukrainian grocer. As expected, incredible carnage follows, including some dire consequences for the teens and Viktor.
