Book: Dragon Gate - The Third Jonathan Shade Novel by Gary Jonas

Gary Jonasabout this book: Dragon Gate is the third novel about Jonathan Shade, Kelly Chan, and Esther the ghost from the flapper era. It's an urban fantasy, and with this one I did something different. The first two books in the series are first person narratives
from Jonathan's point of view. As you might imagine, that limits the scope of a book, which can be a good thing. However, this was a bigger story and I needed more viewpoints, so in this novel, Jonathan carries the bulk of the load with his first person narrative, but there are other viewpoints included.
The story: A team of assassins comes through the Dragon Gate on a mission of vengeance. They murder two wealthy socialites, one of whom is on the board at Dragon Gate Industries, so DGI hires Jonathan to protect the surviving members of the Noble family. They're in for a lot more than they bargained for. Oh, and there's a dragon. You gotta have a dragon, right?
I had a great time painting on a larger canvas. When I first came up with the idea for the Shade series, I was going to write them all in multiple viewpoint, but knew that would be a tough sell to a publisher. The original publisher of the books trusted me enough to try this new method and the editor felt I'd really pulled it off. Enjoy the expanded view. I was able to play with some of the action and suspense set pieces in a more dynamic way, and it was great fun to see into the minds of the other characters.
Get ready for plenty of action.
