Book: A Matter of Perception by Tahlia Newland

Tahlia Newlandabout this book: 'A matter of Perception' is a collection of magical realism and urban fantasy short stories that are thematically linked through their emphasis on examining how our mind affects our perception. Collectively, the stories feature a mixture of genres and a wide variety of characters--ghosts, sirens, alien gods and monsters, light mages and very ordinary people. Most of the stories are touched with humour and romance.
I wanted to write something that was both entertaining and thought-provoking, something that played along the boundary between fantasy and reality. Readers responses indicate that I achieved my goal.
One reader says, 'Newland delivers tales that will make the reader ponder on what level they regard their own problems and view of life.'
Another reader says, 'A Matter of Perception is speculative fiction: that means life gets a little twist added to it.I appreciated the overall optimism of the collection. These modern fairytales are hopeful, but they don't under-value the courage living requires by granting easy happy-ever-afters.'
