Jan Sikesabout this book: Home At Last is the third book in this series of true stories. It is all about starting over, about learning to live again and about loving unconditionally.
Luke Stone has finally gained his freedom from prison, where he has been for fifteen long years. Darlina Flowers waits ahead in Texas, wedding dress and ring bought, with two little girls needing a father.
Finally, they get a real chance to build the life they've both dreamed of and written extensively about over the years through letters.
But, the challenges they face are at times, almost too much. Beginning a new life in a small dusty Central West Texas town which doesn't offer many job opportunities creates frustration. When Luke, Darlina and the two little girls have to pick up pecans off the ground and sell them to buy supper, Darlina is almost ready to throw in the towel.
But, their love keeps them together and moving forward. Luke is forced to get back on stage and perform again, after almost thirty years, he truly feels that he has made it home at last!
Home At Last is a feel-good story.
As with the other books in this series, I was compelled to tell this story in its entirety. Flowers and Stone starts the series and is set in 1970-1971 when Luke and Darlina meet. Each book carries a different message along with the underlying and never-changing theme of undying love.
