Book: Paul O'Leary - overseas adventures by Michael Mardel

Michael Mardelabout this book: Paul is back in Bolinda and is in Grade 7. He is being home schooled by his Dad who used to be a teacher and is now a writer. TeachersPayTeachers have lots of worksheets for him but he has to prepare for his Year 7 NAPLAN, to determine his level of school competency. Both his parents are busy with their work and his Mum announces that they may go on holidays around October as she is due for leave. They want to go for 6 weeks so that had to be negotiated with Mum's work and it was granted. Paul had the task of using his new laptop and looking up accommodation for their 5 countries.
Paul's Dad wants to attend a travel writer's week in Paris so Paul had to factor that in. Their first stop was Chile enroute to Cuba where they stayed a week. The next stop was Paris and Mum and Paul played tourists whilst Dad was on his course. When they arrived in Ireland, they checked out their relatives, including the Byrnes on Mum's side and O'Leary's on Dad's.
Their final country was England and you can see what they got up to there plus a little drama.
This is a travel book about my travels. It's suitable for middle grade, 10-13. It took about 3 months to write. The title is self explanatory. The cover was chosen by a graphic designer. I did a lot of research, looking up accommodation and getting around in the cities. Enjoy some armchair travel.
