Patricia Salamoneabout this book: What started out to be a vacation to Naro, Sicily to meet my husbands relatives wound up to be a hilarious adventure, and an exploration into our heritage.
The excitement in preparing for the trip and the anticipation was an adventure in its-self. In the book you will travel with us, meet the family, learn about the lifestyle eat the food and drink the homemade wine. You will be a part of all the antics and hilarious situations we get ourselves into.
What ever your nationality if your were born in the U.S. and think you know what your cultural background is like because of your up-bringing, think again. Unless you actually immerse yourself in your ancestors county of origin and the lifestyle, you will never know the joy, the shock, the love, laughter, and friendships that you will make.
I packed my laptop to be able to download photographs to a cd while we were in Sicily, and wound up typing notes every day about our adventures and misadventures. About love of family, friends and the local people that welcome you into their world. I decided after about three days that I would write a book about our adventure and share it with the world.
I did not have to do any research for my book, I lived it instead, and I had my own personal interpreter, my husband. I am sure there were times that he wanted to strangle me.
I learned to drive in Sicily, Oh I have been driving in the U.S. for many years, but you haven't really learned to drive until you hit the roads in Italy.
I have included 26 photographs in my book. You will get to put a face to the names, places and events and travel with us as we make our way around Sicily.
My book I am sure will cross many cultural boarders and you will not even need a passport. I invite you to join me on my journey.
