S. Guzmán-C. about this book: The cover of "A Vagabond in Mexico" tells the story, and it is a story in itself. It projects a sense of mystery; there is no clear path, the road itself will decide the vagabond's fate. As human beings we forget who we are and where we come from; therefore, we lose perspective, and we don't really know where we are going; we run and run to stay in the same place. Some of us take the challenge, and try to figure out who we really are, what is out of kilter. My travels in Mexico (all the events in the story really happened) occurred at the beginning of my quest for understanding.
The outward part of the journey in "Vagabond" is about searching for a new life, while traveling as a working vagabond throughout the country, to finally understand firsthand the dreadful working conditions (and low pay) that force Mexican workers to leave their country, and become illegal aliens in North America. In more ways than one "A Vagabond in Mexico" is an educational book.
