Catie Hartsfieldabout this book: This book is a true story, proof that reality is far more interesting than fiction. It starts when our twenty-one year old son falls from a 180 foot cliff in the middle of the night. His younger brother finds him the next morning and must rescue him. The trauma of this event is chronicled in his original journals. I wrote this book for my grandchildren and the generations to come. I wanted them to know that when faced with adversity the only way out is through.
This unique story is told in first person and you are with the family, not knowing if he will live or die, and discovering the changes new to their world as the family discovers them. It is a real page turner and most people read this book within four days. The story is told from the mother's perspective, the difficulties and fears that a parent undergo when their child suffers a fractured neck, a severe traumatic brain injury, and in a coma.
Other family members journals are also included in this book to give you and up-close perspective and the differing viewpoints. I weave my love of gardening, painting and the song of the Cicadas into the story as I compare their struggle with the struggle of my son(s).
