Pippa Greathouseabout this book: What would happen if the New Madrid Earthquakes occurred again today and you were suddenly transported back to the time it originally happened? The fault that lies in the four-state area is huge.
Sadie Nelson finds out in this Romantic Time Travel adventure. She lives in Cape Girardeau,Missouri, just 53 miles above New Madrid, and right on the Mississippi River. Accompanied by lightning, flash floods, and all the things that happened back in December of 1811, she is amazed and confused when she wakes up with only her cell phone in the pocket of her skimpy clothes.
She's no less confused, however than Aden Barrett, the estate owner in whose yard she is found. Her modern dress, her language, and her cheeky attitude are worrisome to him. Aden is determined to protect her as she tries to navigate through this 200-year time shift.
It has been only a little over 100 years since the Salem Witch trials happened, and Sadie would be a prime candidate for suspicion. When, within days, someone accuses her of exactly that, she realized how precarious her position there is.
Aden works hard, to help her learn 1811 ways; dress, manner of speech; how to act and walk like a lady. The simplest things such as how to use a chamber pot are just a few of the challenges she faces. But Able, who has already fallen for her, feels he must protect her at all costs; even if it's from herself. The more recalcitrant she is to his direction, the more determined he becomes that she adapt. What he does not count on, is losing his heart.
And what neither of them have counted on, is the danger that has followed her 200 years into the past.
Earthquakes fascinate me. I live almost on top of the New Madrid fault which still has frequent earthquakes. There are still sand blows present today from the original quakes, some of which can even be seen from satellites. Most of the quakes are small enough to be unfelt, but the area is due for a big one at any time.
Time travel and its possibilities are also fascinating. I love writing books, and I love books with strong alpha men and capable, intelligent and independent ladies. And I love happy endings.
The title came easily to me. It is time, in the beginning of the book, for Sadie to change. Her current boyfriend has become increasingly abusive. She wants so to be a part of a family, to be needed. To be loved.
The most difficult part of the book was the research done on it and making sure it was accurate. Making it believable. I hope I've achieved that. It took about six months to write; at least that long doing the research.
But the greatest part of all is being able to share it with others!
Publisher's Note: Sweet time travel romance, containing strong 1800s style discipline. If this is not to your liking, please do not read.
