David B. Silvaabout this book: All The Lonely People is just about that ... a group of lonely people who hang out regularly in a bar. Loneliness or more often isolation is a theme I enjoy exploring in my work. In this case, the theme is wrapped in a mystery/thriller/horror package. It's a fast paced page-turner, something I'm still learning to do as a writer.
The title, of course, is taken from the lyrics of the Beatles song, Eleanor Rigby. One of my favorites from back in the olden days when I was a kid.
I wrote this one by the seat of my pants. Generally, when I write a book, I have a rough idea where the story's going. In this case, I didn't really discover the ending until I arrived there. Some readers may find it uplifting, some may find it a downer. All that mattered to me as the writer was that it felt real.
Pacing is the biggest take-away for me in this novel. I enjoy reading novels that move along. Unfortunately, I also enjoy novels that explore their characters in depth (much as Stephen King does). I'm still learning to integrate the two elements. I believe they're both important and any time I'm able to deliver on both levels, the readers will go away as satisfied as I do. In the base of All The Lonely People, I think I as able to achieve this.
