Capt. D.R. Rheinabout this book: After years of flying, Captain Rhein began investigating the small plane crashes that happen in the Mt. Mitchell National Park in the Western North Carolina Mountains.
When he found details on a WWII B-24 that disappeared, but was found years later on Commissary Ridge, Rhein knew he had a good foundation for a story!
Driving to the state park, Rhein and his wife visited the rescue agencies, talked to rangers and ate at the Poplar Grove One-Stop, the local convenience store. He soon had enough material to write his next aviation thriller.
Crash of the Mountain King pulls Phil Ryan out of retirement to investigate the latest King Air crash at Mt. Mitchell. Soon Phil is cutting through the dense forest looking for the missing plane and pilot.
Mysteries begin to unfold when he stumbles upon the old B-24 and discovers the King Air nearby - but both planes are stripped of parts and empty!
When Phil turns to the locals for information, he discovers even deeper secrets hidden by generations of loggers led by Jimmy Tate Wilcox.
Soon the two men are at odds, which forces Jimmy Tate to take drastic action. As the action spirals out of control, Phil turns to the FBI and local agencies for support in finding answers.
