Celia Yearyabout this book: This 22,000 word novella is the third in the Dime Novel Series--always 99cents.
I set this one in the late 1800s in a town I called Trinity Hill, located in the Texas Hill Country. At one time I thought I'd write a series under this name, with a different character from the town in each story. Maybe I'll do this one day. For now, I'm very much enjoying writing the Dime Novels.
Charlotte Marie Dewhurst is a young single woman who lives with her wealthy aunt in Trinity Hill. Charlotte is restless after teaching in the one-room school for a few years. She has turned down four suitors for her hand in marriage.
Will she ever find the man of her dreams?
One day as she drives her small buggy home from school, she comes upon a startling sight. She discovers a man lying beside the road, partially in the ditch. His horse stands patiently nearby, waiting, but the man is out cold--and has a few bloody spots on body.
Charlotte manages to boost him into her buggy, secure his horse to the back, and pick up his belongings, in addition to several books that appear to be about the law. This man is not an ordinary person. He's dressed too well...
And this is how Charlotte meets William Montgomery from Boston.
