Doyle Turnerabout this book: This action ficton is based on tales passed down by the old timers living in the area. The stury goes that a gang of outlaws had a hideout just north of the riverport town of Jefferson Texas. The time was in the 1850s and it is on record the Dalton Gang pulled robberies not far away. They were said to hold up in a cave that was large enough to park a wagon and team. With gold stashed in the cave, they set dinamite charges at the entrance in case they were found and didnt have time to cart the gold out they could blast in the cave and later come back and dig it out.
The tale tells that Rangers raided the hideout, the dinamite charges were set off, and in the persuing chase the outlaws were wiped out The Rangers not knowing the gold being in the blast, closed the case.
Our character lucked up on the rest of the story and all hell breaks loose.
A gotta read. Full of action, suspense and partial history truth.
