Author Carl Proujanabout this book: What "is" The Madness Analog ...? That is the burning question with which I want readers of my first eBook to grapple.

What is a man who has spent the majority of his years writing non-fiction works of an educational nature, doing in promoting and sharing a fictional, self-published eBook at such an advanced age?

How about: getting a second wind and living life fully!

Most men my age have long since retired. But not me. Now, in my 8th decade, I'm far from finished. The Madness Analog is a culmination of years and years of note-taking, diversions and distractions...going away from, and coming back to the novel while life interceded... a novel I have been working on for more than 10 years.

The Madness Analog was borne out of my solid professional history in science (specifically, as a biologist and chemist); my world travels (I have actually visited every location in my book, with very few exceptions); and the topical events of our day.

Since the horrendous attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the world has changed considerably. So much so, that our own government has devolved into a pseudo-big brother entity. Of course, nations spy on one another. That is hardly anything new. But the clandestine spying by American officials on American citizens as protection against a recurrence of terrorism from abroad hitting us at home..well, that reality is almost too much to stomach.

So, I started writing..and writing...and wondering: What if...? What if the global terrorist threat morphed into something so sinister, so diabolical that it had the potential to leave no one immune from its effect? What if...what if the true threat was not from without, but from within? And, what if...what if, the weapon -- once unleashed -- would be far more devastating than anything mankind had ever faced before?

This is what went through my mind as I conceived this original concept for a novel, involving the FBI, Mossad, Al-Qaeda, neo-nazis, duplicitous and disloyal government officials, murder, terror and experiments conducted in plain sight for the commission of an unimaginable horror.

The Madness Analog... I call it: "A terror so real...it could be happening now ..." And, maybe...it already is.

Surprise Ending -- a great reward for reader

I always look for originality when I seek a book to read. It's not that easy, what with everyone who has a computer or smart tablet thinking they can write..UGH... but this, The Madness Analog, is truly a well-crafted story. You can tell the author is a real writer, and it shows through the attention to detail and story craft. This one reads like it could really happen, and that's what makes great fiction. I dare anyone to read this and not get goosebumps! [by Angela Harrington]
