Robert Clarkabout this book: The Reluctant One is a spine tingling tale of terror and suspense that takes place in the central Texas hill country. It's about a young couple, Jeff and Lori, who buy a home in the country only to find it's inhabited by spirits. These spirits seem harmless, so Jeff and Lori decide to stay. Soon they discover that a powerful demon has laid claim to the souls of the spirits. This demon has incredible powers and does all he can to scare Jeff and Lori away. As time goes on, Lori comes to realize that she has been preordained to be the One chosen to face the demon. She is very reluctant to accept this calling, which is where the title comes from, but she eventually overcomes her fears and accepts the challenge. Jeff is not so quick to accept this and believes they should leave. As time goes on, Jeff gives in to Lori's insistence and decides to stay. What ensues is an epic battle between good and evil that will take Jeff and Lori from here to Hell and back.
I wrote this book with a wide audience in mind. It will appeal to young adults as well as older readers. It is very clean with very little profanity and no "F" bombs. It is scary and suspenseful but not gory or tasteless.
In addition to the terror and suspense, there are also some touching scenes and a fair amount of humor.
