PJ Sharonabout this book: ON THIN ICE is a contemporary YA about Penny Trudeau, an overly responsible seventeen year old figure skater who, after learning that her mother has terminal cancer, wants to protect herself from the inevitable loss by hiding behind lies. Her choice to get involved with Carter, a college student a few years too old for her, leads her down a destructive path. When her mother dies and Penny finds herself pregnant, she has no choice but to deal with reality. But as she struggles to come to terms with the future, the secrets of the past come to the forefront--and they are not easily forgiven or forgotten.
Penny's story has many twists and turns, but that is the real life of teens today. One bad choice leads to another and one catastrophe can snowball into an avalanche. I wrote the story as is because I experienced many of the situations that Penny endures and I know for a fact that you can overcome all of these traumatic events and come out on the other side stronger and better than before. There is always hope for a better tomorrow if you have faith.
