Rafaelabout this book: Right from the opening prologue, which establishes a biologically natural lycanthrope, the plot identifies itself as unique, original, and non-derivative. Although throughout the story there are nods and doffs to a classic icon of American culture, nowhere will you find gypsy curses, infectious bites, or full-moon rampages. This is not your father's werewolf.
Indeed, though the protagonist has a home in the forested Apennine mountains of San Marino, the action leaves behind the mists of the gothic age and drops into the turbulence of the modern world, while leaving behind none of the treachery, ambition, betrayal, lust, passion, and yes love, tormenting humans of any era.
This book does not categorize easily. As its reviews note, suspense, thriller, mystery, political, paranormal all apply. How do I describe it? "They Cried Wolf" is intended for people who, at the end of the day when the chores are done, just want to sit down with a good, old-fashioned story. That gracefully allows them to suspend belief systems. Indeed. I cordially invite you to enter the world of Diego Constance.
