Joan Hall Hoveyabout this book: Chill Waters was my third suspense novel and one I'm very close to, like a favorite child. You love them all your children, but for different reasons. All my novels, along with being what I intend to be a gripping roller coaster ride for my readers, has to do with abandonment and betrayal. In any good book the reader can learn a great deal about its author. We go where the pain is.
I like to write about women who are stronger than they think they are. Women who have come through great difficulties, but finally learn that in the end we are responsible for our own lives. Rachael, my main character in Chill Waters, is one of those women. She has suffered a terrible betrayal and has gone away to a house on Jenny's Cove, an island, where she used to visit with her grandmother. Once it was a safe place to be. But no longer.
There is a killer on the island. And she is alone. In the end, she realizes she must depend only on their own strengths and intelligence not only to create a more authentic life for herself, but finally for her very survival. I hope you enjoy "Chill Waters".
