J.E. Barrett about this book: "Spilled," draws the reader into the comfortable life of one ungrateful woman and the effect she has on the lives of six strangers after a chance occurrence in a coffee shop. Everyone has bad days, but it's up to the individual how they get through it. The author came up with the idea for this book after coming back from several combat deployments and seeing how ungrateful people were for what they had. People in front of him at a fast food restaurant complaining profusely that their cup was only half full of ice when they specified 2/3 full.
"If there is anything that I would like people to take away from this book it's that they be thankful for what they have. A wise man once told me that, 'Any day you end with the same number of people you started with wasn't that bad a day.' I try to remember this everyday, but even for me it is difficult at times. No matter who you are, chances are that someone in the world has it worse than you." — J.E. Barrett
