Rebecca Forsterabout this book: I am a legal voyeur, fascinated by cops, lawyers and judges. When I married my husband, he was a federal prosecutor specializing in organized crime and terrorism. After being appointed a judge, he handled many high profile criminal cases but one that never made the news effected him more than others. He had to sentence a sixteen-year-old boy to life in prison for a horrendous murder. I began to wonder how I felt about children being tried as adults. The result was Hostile Witness, the first book in The Witness Series that follows attorney Josie Bates and her defense of Hannah Sheraton, a sixteen-year-old multi-racial girl who is on trial for killing her step-grandfather, the chief justice of the California Supreme Court. I hope new readers will find Hostile Witness an exciting read. Josie, Hannah, and Josie's ex-cop lover each are affected by the legal system but each of them also has a unique sense of justice that drives their personal lives.
I was thrilled when a reviewer said of my work: "If Lisa Scottolini and John Grisham had a child, Rebecca Forster would be their literary child."
