Virginia Wintersabout this book: A few years ago I visited the lovely island of Bermuda and its National Art Gallery. I was the only visitor that day and noted the upper mezzanine area was both empty and had its own exit. When the time came to write the third in my Dangerous Journeys series, I remembered that lonely mezzanine and decided to stage the murder there. I also thought it was time to shake up my protagonist, Anne McPhail.
No Motive for Murder takes Anne on a visit to her sister on Bermuda where she witnesses a murder in the National Gallery.
So there she is, a stranger, facing a stubborn police inspector who decides Anne is involved in the crime, not just a witness, and a killer who knows what she looks like.
One plot in the book involves the international trade in guns. In the story, Anne discovers that to save her own life, she would shoot at another person, something I didn't known about her.
Discovering new aspects of the continuing characters is one of the best parts of writing a series. I also enjoy researching locales and topics such as the international weapons trade and sailing.
I hope that if my readers enjoy No Motive for Murder, they will explore Anne's earlier adventures in Murderous Roots, and the Facepainter Murders.
