Edward Lornabout this book: Dastardly Bastard involves the power of memories, how the good ones build us up, while the bad ones can take on a life of their own to destroy us. Dastardly Bastard is a horror story, but just under the skin hides an essay on humanity. I try to add a theme to all my books, and this go around, I would like to give readers hope. You don't have to live in the past. Though memories are an integral part of out existence, you don't have to let them control you.
The title comes directly from the poem that opens the book. The Dastardly Bastard is the villain of the novel, but the meaning behind his name is quite literal. Telling anymore would give away some plot points, so you'll have to read to find out.
I think Dastardly Bastard will appeal to readers across a spectrum of genres. The characters in the novel are unique, each with their own quirks and differing pasts. Their journey is one we all take throughout life every time we focus on the past to find out what went wrong. But when memories are personified, the plot thickens.
