George A Bernsteinabout this book: Trapped is a story of love, disillusionment, terror, survival, and ultimately, retribution.
The original inspiration for Trapped came when I was living in north suburban Chicago. A neighbor had an anesthetic accident while undergoing plastic surgery, and she ended up in a coma. I've since done considerable research the condition, called "Locked-in Syndrome," that my main character, Jackee, falls into. It's a real and very terrifying experience, and real people have suffered as Jackee does. I discuss this in more detail on my blog.
It took me 6 months to write Trapped…and 22 years to get it published. In the interim, there were too many rewrites to count, major plot and story changes, and I took time away from the manuscript to write 3 other novels. Getting traditional published is no easy task for a 1st-time writer, but then I entered TAG Publisher's "Next Great American Novel" contest, and got the call from Dee Burks that they loved the story and wanted to publish it, if I would consider their editing suggestions. I happily agreed, since I've always been ready to consider expert advice, and her suggestions made Trapped a much better book. And I love the cover their graphic artist designed.
I've been flattered by the consistently high praise I've received as to the quality of both the story, and my writing skills. I've spent years perfecting the latter through attending classes during numerous writer's conferences and seminars…and my wife is my sharpest critic.
I hope to publish my next novel, A 3rd Time to Die, in the spring of 2013. It's another unusal plot line, with some great twists. I hope you love Trapped enough to look forward to my next one.

• Len: "I read mostly best selling authors, but TRAPPED is as well-written and intriguing as any novel I've ever read."
• Gloria: "Loved it. Read TRAPPED in 2 days. I loved how you see everything only through Jackee's eyes...and especially the ending."
