Book: Maliha Anderson Mysteries - An Indian Steampunk Novel in a Fantasy Alternate History by Steve Turnbullcategories: Book, Science Fiction, Murder Mystery, Thriller, Female Protagonist, Alternative History, Victorian, Edwardian, Flying Machines, Fantasy, Steampunk
Steve Turnbullabout this boxed set: In 1843 Sir Michael Faraday, in front of a packed Royal Society gathering, demonstrated his Principle for the Partial Nullification of the Effects of Gravity.
Everything else is alternative history.
I've always liked Science Fiction, I also like history, and watching murder mysteries on TV so I combined all that into steampunk murder mysteries.
Maybe you feel you might not like steampunk? Here's one recent reviewer:
"Steampunk is new to me and this book showed me how nice it is to just sit back and go with the alternate universe where a difference like Faraday's discovering anti-gravity can change things ... I did not feel bombarded with odd things, but just fell naturally into the story where things are not like they are here/now."
But what sort of stories are they?
"This is a thoughtful study of class, gender and racial prejudices in an alternate steam-era history. So if you're looking for air pirates and swashbuckling, this isn't it."
This is a compilation of the first three Maliha Anderson novellas "Murder out of the Blue", "Blood Sky at Night" and "Halo Round the Moon". And if you like them:
"This is a well-done steampunk book with a smart and heroic female amateur sleuth."
