Author D. A. Metrovabout this book: THE TERRIBLE QUEST OF THADDEUS PENNYBROOK'S KNEE-HIGH STEAMBOTS is my first fully "steampunk" novel. I'd actually created innumerable versions of this story over the years, and this is where things finally landed. Thaddeus Pennybrook's fascination with robots begins at a very early age. By the time he's eighteen, he's renowned for his advancements in robotics at the country's foremost steam tech university. Pennybrook is on his way to fame and fortune when misfortune strikes. His prized "boy" robot (meant to be a surrogate son for him and his wife), goes ballistic causing the delicate Mrs. Pennybrook to lose her mind. The unfortunate women is condemned to spend the remainder of her life in an asylum. Pennybrook himself becomes a recluse, though he's still considered the world's foremost expert on robotics. When he's commissioned by a toy company to design and build four robotic dolls, the lonely Pennybrook comes to love them so dearly, he can't bear to part with them. Consequently, he ships them off to hiding. No sooner are they gone when Pennybrook is summarily kidnapped and held hostage by toy company thugs. Finding themselves lost many hundreds of miles away, the dolls make up their minds to find their creator and rescue him. Despite countless threats, they persevere through a dangerous world of crowded cities and unforgiving wilderness. When they finally find the man who made them, Pennybrook is so inspired by their impossible journey, he teams up with the dolls to make their escape destroying the evil toy factory in the process.

At first glance, readers might think this is middle-grade reading. But I personally guarantee, there are psychological and philosophical observations woven into the prose for those who are able to appreciate them. I hope you enjoy THE TERRIBLE QUEST OF THADDEUS PENNYBROOK'S KNEE-HIGH STEAMBOTS. If so, I would be eternally grateful if you could leave your kind review on Amazon.com. Thank you so much! Warmest regards, D. A. Metrov.
