Toni Noel about this book: The prevalence of spousal abuse in our society prompted me to write the first novel I ever wrote. I was so moved by the subject the story practically wrote itself and I completed the first draft in six weeks. Years of rewrites followed and only recently did I feel it ready for publication. The setting is my favorite place to camp in the eastern Sierras near Lee Vining, California. The title, To Feel Again, describes perfectly the heroines emergence from the dark corner she'd crawled into each time her abusive husband beat her. This is not a dark book, but rather an inspirational book about young widow who overcomes her painful past and returns to the real world from her self-impose seclusion after she pulls a nearly-drowned man from the creek and nurses him back to health. In this isolated setting she has surrounded herself with animals and lives close to nature. He helps her overcome her fear of men and teaches her all men are not cruel.
