Hywela Lynabout this book: When I looked out over the mountains, near my home in Wales, the mist came drifting over the range, tinted pink by the setting sun, and turning to snow. This sparked an idea in my mind for a misty, icy planet, loosely based on the Nifleheim of Norse legends. So the telepathic settlers of the planet named their new home Niflheim, and many of their towns, and even their people took their names from the Nordic legends. Niflheim was only supposed to be a stop-off for my heroine, but she fell in love with it, and so did I.
She promised to return one day, and so the sequel to 'Starquest', 'Children Of The Mist' came into being. When one of the friends she made there, Tamarith, calls for help, she knows she has to go back. Tamarith is nursing a broken heart, but more importantly, the planet is in grave danger, both from an unknown malady and a threatened invasion. I enjoyed writing about the people of Niflheim, and getting to know them and their icy planet better. Since the world has forsaken technology in favour of a slower, more simple way of life, I was also able to incorporate into the story, another great love of mine - horses.
My cover artist was the same one who made my cover for Starquest - Tamara Westberry. This talented lady took a scene that I related to her and the result was exactly as I pictured it, even down to the 'alien sky' I asked for.
This second book was also published by The Wild Rose Press.

"This book is wonderful! There are few books that hold my interest to the point where I can't bear to put it down, but Children of the Mist is most certainly at the top of this list."
