Charlie Fiveashabout this book: Return to Tobacco Road is about decisions in life and the roads that take us down the paths of life. This novel challenges the reader to ponder the roads taken and where other roads might have led. Inspired by the writer's fond memories of visiting his grandparents' tobacco farm in rural North Carolina, Return to Tobacco Road details a light history of tobacco farming combined with a classic Southern story of family, suspense, and a secret that is revealed as investment banker Will Jordan makes his decision to leave Boston and return to his native state of North Carolina. Will encounters skeletons from his own past that could derail his plans to purchase the family farm from his brother and cousins.
Although the author grew up in and currently lives in Geogia, the novel has many references to Coastal Carolina and specifically Wilmington, where the hero of the book is raised. The novel provides descriptive detail about Boston, Wilmington, Chapel Hill, and rural North Carolina.
Return to Tobacco Road is the author's first book. It took him over six years to write. He has a second book, Moonlight Through the Pine, due to be released in June of 2014. Return to Tobacco Road was published in the fall of 2013 via CreateSpace.
