Book: Past, Present, and Promises by Patricia Leigh Graham, Verna C. Humphreycategories: Book, Moonshining, South, Determination, Hope, Womens' Issues, Southen Fiction
Patricia Leigh Grahamabout this book: 'Past Present and Promises' presents two short stories from two different perspectives. Both Stories are about women and their challenges in life. Moonshining, drug running, and high action are elements of the first story, and it takes place in Rabun Gap Georgia. Story one parallels my life with my first husband. Being married to a man who dwelled in moonshining and drugs is not a glamorous lifestyle as Hollywood would have portrayed ot.
The second story is about hope. It is a story based on pure determination and the ability to overcome any obstacle placed in front of you. Both stories take a feministic stance. A true twist that keeps you guessing what and who is going to get hurt and who will be the lucky man in the end.
So settle in and be prepared to learn something new about the South straight from the lips of an Appalachian woman. This book is not for the faint of heart. Only read it if your brave enough to believe that this can happen to any woman.
