As a successful photographer, I'm often asked about my marketing strategies that have built my brand. Already bombarded by tons of photography questions, I decide to write a book about my tips, techniques and what some people call my Internet marketing secrets.

While a portion of "Socially Smart" piggybacks on "Internet Strategies and Guerrilla Marketing," a two-hour lecture I've done in many photography tradeshows and conferences plus delivered to students at the University's of Texas, Calgary and the Virgin Islands, this book focuses mainly on the "big two," Twitter and Facebook.

At these engagements I'm often asked, "How did you get over 120,000 followers on Twitter without following back, plus that coveted Twitter, Verified blue-check mark?" This book helps answer those questions and more. Besides a few of my photos I've included to help illustrate these concepts, I give you examples (including screen captures) on how to get A-List celebrities, like LL Cool J, William Shatner and big companies like Red Bull, Adobe, Walgreens, and even Motorola to broadcast your name (brand) on Twitter for free to their millions of followers. This book also provides pointers on how to improve your Klout score, the Internet's metric on measuring your social engagement power—not to mention major companies and brands give away products to people with high Klout scores. While the average person's Klout score hovers below 50, mine hovers in the 80's and I provide tips on how to increase your Klout score. By the way, your Klout score is not based specifically on the amount of followers, though it helps, so don't be fooled that you need over 120,000 followers on Twitter like my verified account.
