Thomas Altabout this book: "8-Track Flashbacks"is a collection of stories, told by a boomer, evoked by the music of his youth - the music of the Sixties. Like many, Tom found that music played an incredibly important part of his life. It gave voice to his fears and fantasies, while providing a rhythm for his march through the teen years. Those years were enveloped by the turmoil of a decade of social unrest, Vietnam, and assassinations, but also hippies, flower children, communes and drugs, as well as the powerful and ever-evolving music. All-in-all, it was a helluva time to grow up.
The stories include success and failures and fun in sports, in school and in social circles. They speak humorously, but fondly about misadventures while dating and drinking and daring to break-out on ones own. That music can be heard in the lyrical stories of a child of the sixties. It's a fun trip down memory lane - a helluva ride.
