Jaime and Raechel Faulknerabout this book: So what is Twisted Flash Fiction?
For those who haven't come across the term before, "flash fiction" is used to describe really short stories - typically anywhere from as few as 7 to as many as 1,000 words.
This particular book contains ten different flash fiction stories that are all 500 words long.
As for the "twisted" part - each of these ten stories has an unexpected twist at the end. (I think it was reading some of Roald Dahl's Tales Of The Unexpected when I was at school that got me into this particular genre.)
Here are the titles of all ten of them:
• Gowned And Bagged
• All Tied Up And Nowhere To Go
• 50 Grades Of Shea
• Maison Dietre
• Not Suited For Modern Life
• The Computer Virus
• Now UZI Me, Now You Don't
We usually come up with the titles first, and then see where they take us. As you'll notice, we do enjoy a bit of word-play, and we try to ensure that the titles give you a bit of a clue about where the story is heading, but without giving the surprise ending away!
If you're wondering about the cover and the series title "Coffee Break Tales", then it signifies that these stories can be read over a cup of coffee, or whenever you have a few spare minutes (e.g. waiting in line at the bank, on the bus).
