Elizabeth Baileyabout this book: I don't usually write short stories, but when I do I like to play with different styles and historical periods. It's such fun to try new things and find out whether I can duck and dive as an author.
How is it that the desert sheikh still holds fascination as a romantic hero? Did it all start with that classic Hollywood heart-throb, Rudolph Valentino? Whatever the origin, and despite what we now know of the arabian culture, there is still this mystique about it when we look into history.
Thus, from out of the desert sands comes Millicent Muldaur, an Edwardian young lady in search of her missing fiance. The desert is no place for an innocent young Englishwoman and despite having a guide and taking the precaution of riding with a camel train of traders, Millicent falls foul of a bandit gang.
Enter the curiously cultured chieftain Jaffar. Can Millicent hope for rescue? Or will her charismatic captor change her life forever?
