Mary Tate Engelsabout this book: Devil or Demon?
Alex Julian doesn't care who he is or what he does. She is desperate in Mexico and Nick Diamond is the only man who can help her. In a freak accident (or was it?) her housekeeper is killed and her child is missing. Disappears into thin air! Gone! Nada. And the police are no help. So Alex takes matters into her own hands and turns to a man who is both revered and feared.
Nick is a mysterious undercover agent working both sides of the border. Alex is a teacher, unaware of the sinister elements that put her and her godchild in danger. Can Nick be trusted to help her find little Jenni? Or is he playing her along, pretending a love that doesn't – can't – exist between them? Is she falling in love with a rogue, the wrong kind of man for her?
With Nick, she enters a dark underground world of selling babies, risking everything for the child she loves. But can she trust him, this American known as El Capitan? He stirs her passion as they explore Mexico's perilous black market in search of a certain child for sale. Unfortunately, they find even more.
As they race from a small Arizona/Mexico border town to an adoption agency in the mid-west, are they too late to rescue Jenny? And has their love gone too far astray to be saved?
From the Author – When I read an investigative article in the local newspaper regarding a baby-selling ring from across the Mexican border, I was appalled. As a mother, I couldn't imagine such a horrible experience. And yet, this still happens. Children are taken, young kids are snatched, and never heard from again.
