Samantha Vervoordtabout this book: "Mutant" is an interesting mix of science fiction and fantasy in a uniquely dystopian world. Essentially, it's about a girl named Nami that goes in for Testing, but after a while, she escapes with some unknown accomplices. Once they make it out to the forest, they find out some interesting things, namely that the Tests gave them advantages that help them survive out in the wilderness...and they also find out some other information. I wrote this book to be an allegory for modern day society, and the names of each character reflects that if you look at the story closely enough.
I loved coming up with the idea for this novel, and, as a first time author, completing it at all was amazing to me. After I'd written it and had gone through the monstrously painful process of editing (which took the majority of a year...my patience astounds even me!), I actually made the cover myself. That cool syringe with blood was all me...with the help of some red food coloring and medication. After I'd done all of the work for my book, I published it as an ebook, and that just means that I'm one step closer to achieving my dreams. I really hope that if you enjoy it, but if you don't, well, I'll just have my people (yes, I've got "people") banish you to the other end of the universe. ~keep on reading~
