Doug L Hoffman about this book: A local TV news crew, a squad of misfit Marines, and a small crew of Texans are trapped on a spaceship built on an Oil billionaire's ranch. Forced to blast off to prevent the government from seizing the ship they find themselves in an adventure that takes them to the ISS, the Moon, and beyond. Parker's Folly is the first book in what turned into a science fiction trilogy, and my first work of fiction. I have always enjoyed classic SF, the type of books written by Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, and E. E. “Doc” Smith. Books where the science is “hard”, or at least plausible, and the characters start out as everyday folks. Books where the reader can see themselves as part of the adventure. But more than anything else, I think SF should be fun. Granted their may be perils and violence, but a sense of humor is often what keeps us human, and so it is with my characters. This book took me ten months to write and then I spent a year flogging it to traditional publishers. Eventually I got fed up and published it through Amazon, a move I have never regretted. Parker's Folly and its two successors, Peggy Sue and M'tak Ka'fek, have sold so well I have continued to write. I am now working on my fifth novel. If you are a science fiction fan I hope you will give my books a try. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
