I Flowersabout this book: In 2010 I worked for a company, which was slowly but steadily going down. Everyone knew that the office would eventually close, we just didn't know when. You can probably imagine what kind of atmosphere we all had to deal with. The management was pretty much invisible, people fought over the scarce projects the company still had, creating a hostile work environment.
One night, when I came home, exhausted after a day of observing the tragicomedy in the office, I fell asleep in the armchair (which never happened to me before, I swear.) I had a dream. I was a soldier of the U.S. Army participating in some abstract war somewhere in the jungles. I remember being really cool, almost like a super hero. Nothing could kill me and I was smarter than everyone else. I did have one problem though. Because I was so incredibly cool, I had a bad attitude, and I always got in trouble with the officers and the General who I considered to be incapable of making the right decisions (not sure where I got this idea ;) I remember waking up with a phrase that later became the title of my novel, "I Punch the General."
I was laid off in October of 2010, just in time to write the outline for the novel in order to participate in Nanowrimo (while applying for jobs, of course.) I finished my 65K words on the 30th of November, and I spent next two years re-writing and editing my draft. I published my novel in December of 2012.
I Punch the General is a novel, which helped me to examine the human behavior in general and my own behavior in particular, in the circumstances that could be categorized as extreme. Writing this book was a great experience and I hope that this novel finds its' readers.
